Overview:
The writer is extolling the virtues of being in the Book continually. He asks for the eyes of his understanding to be open so that he can fully observe God's Word. Please don't hid your Word and its meaning from me. I long for the boundaries your Word puts around me. There are those around me that are arrogant and make fun of your Word - I am not one of them - I do what your Word says. There are those who plot against me, but still I am focused and am meditating on your Word. Your Word is the the bright spot in my life. It acts as a guide and counselor to me.
Application:
So much of what we learned in LBTB dealt with Ps 119, because Ps 119 is all about the Book. The psalmist realized that the whole world could be in turmoil around him, but when he was in the Word and mulling it over in his mind, nothing could make him fear or be angry about his circumstances. I claims the promises that if you study and know God's Word, God will bless you. "Lord, I want to be blessed by the study of your Word. Help me never see it as a chore, rather like the psalmist that rejoices and delights at the opportunity of spending alone time with God."
