Overview:
Lord, You've been good to me, just as You said you would be. I believe what you say, now teach me good judgment and knowledge. Now that I'm obedient to Your Word, I'm no longer troubled and prone to wander. You are good, and you do good; teach me Your Word. There are those who have smeared me with lies. With my whole heart I will keep your commands. I am happy with Your laws, but their hearts are unfeeling. I'm glad I had troubles, for they made me turn to You and your laws. I would rather have laws from You, than thousands of gold and silver coins.
Application:
Yes, Lord, You have been good to me! David requests that God give him good judgment or discernment. That is so very important when dealing with people. Many people say the right things, but I/we need discernment to know if they are telling you the truth. Perhaps they are lying to themselves and don't realized they are telling untruths; but godly discernment helps us make those judgments. I can never realize the full goodness of God - that He Himself is good and all that He does is good. Even when my heart is breaking, and I am at the lowest of low points - God is good! Even when lies are spread about me - God is good. When I am in pain whether physical or emotional - God is good! I can call these things good, because they made me turn to You. If left to solve it or "fix" it on my own, I would not have run to You. When I am at the lowest I can go, there is no where else to turn but to You. All the money, wealth and fame that this world has to offer, are nothing compared to knowing You. I'd rather be under Your "restrictions" than have untold wealth. Nothing compares to You!!
