Psalm 119:113-120

Overview:
Skeptics are my enemies, but I love your Word. I take refuge in Your hiding place; I wait for your Word.
You are my protection as I trust in Your Word. So that I can follow your Word w/o distraction I get rid of those who don't love and follow You. Your Word keeps me going - it's the source of life. Please reward my faithfulness. You have rejected those who have rejected you - therefore I fear You and am fearful of Your judgments.
Application:
The writer shows the sharp contrast between those who love God's Word (him) and those who reject the Word. He has seen God sift throw the wicked and discard them - that is enough for him to be ever mindful that that could happen to him if he too does not obey God's Word. Fear is not a bad thing when it causes us to be safe and do the right thing. Yes, God is my loving heavenly Father, but at the same time because of his sinlessness and purity, He wants me to strive to be like Him. I don't get a pass because I'm "only human." I have the indwelling Holy Spirit as my guide, my strength, my Convictor. I am without excuse because I am not alone.
How comforting to know I can run to Him for protection and shelter. His shield is fighting off the spears and arrows of the enemy that seek to would me. "Lord, may the circumstances of this day - all of them glorify You. Thank you for what You did and what You will do. Confirm in our hearts the direction we are to take. We love You, Lord, and look to you for guidance and direction."
