Overview:
I want to speak to you now about loving your brother in Christ. You have been taught by God Himself to love one another, and you are doing that, but I am telling you (urging you) to do this more. Non-believers (outsiders) are always watching you, and you need to be a testimony to them at all times. Some other things they watch are: don't stir up strife and anger others (live quietly); find a job to do and do it well (mind your own affairs) doing the work yourself as we showed you. If you do these things, this is showing outsiders a good example of a Christ-follower, a true Christian.
Application:
I like the part that says - I know you are showing brotherly love towards others, but you can do more! Never be satisfied with what you are doing for God, I can always do more. When I have a job, do it well. It is important to have a job so that you are not falling into being someone who stirs up strife. When you are not happy, you spill it over onto others. Therefore, if you have a job and are busy doing it, you don't have time to sit around feeling sorry for yourself, or being critical of others, because you are too busy. Hard works is a good thing. I need to be mindful that outsiders are judging Christ by my actions. Did I give a good impression of my Lord and Savior today?
